Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy describes how GridSync Limited (“GridSync”, “we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on gridsync.nz, app.gridsync.nz, and related services (the “Platform”). It supplements our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

What cookies are

  1. Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. We also use similar technologies, such as local storage, that serve the same purposes. In this Policy, “cookies” includes those technologies.

Cookies we use

We only use cookies that are necessary to operate the Platform. These are set automatically because the Platform does not work without them:

  1. Authentication and session cookies: set by our authentication provider (Clerk) to sign you in, keep your session active, and protect your account.
  2. Security cookies: used to protect the Platform against attacks such as cross-site request forgery and to support bot protection on sign-in.
  3. Preference cookies: remember settings such as your theme (light or dark mode) and similar display preferences.

We do not use analytics cookies, advertising or marketing cookies, or cross-site tracking on the Platform. If we introduce analytics or advertising cookies in the future, we will update this Policy and, where required, ask for your consent before they are used.

Third-party services

  1. Some features of the Platform are provided by third parties that may set their own cookies when you use them: our authentication provider (Clerk), our payment provider’s hosted checkout (used when you pay for an Application), and the address search on application forms (provided by Google). These cookies are governed by each provider’s own privacy and cookie policies.

Your choices

  1. You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings, including blocking them entirely.
  2. Because the cookies we use are strictly necessary, blocking them will prevent parts of the Platform from working. In particular, you will not be able to sign in or stay signed in.

Changes to this Policy

  1. We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy with a new effective date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you (for example by email or in-Platform notice).
